Autoimmune Disease & Rheumatic Conditions

Autoimmune diseases occur when the immune system mistakenly targets the body’s own tissues, leading to inflammation and, in some cases, progressive tissue damage. These conditions can affect nearly any organ system, including the thyroid, joints, skin, kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, blood vessels, and nervous system. Rheumatic conditions, which often involve the joints, muscles, and connective tissues, can also have widespread effects throughout the body.

Autoimmune and inflammatory conditions are often complex, with symptoms that may develop gradually, fluctuate over time, or affect multiple body systems. For many people, the path to diagnosis involves months or years of unexplained symptoms, inconclusive testing, and uncertainty about what is happening in their bodies. Even after receiving a diagnosis, finding an effective treatment approach can be challenging, particularly when symptoms persist or treatment needs change over time.

At Radiance Naturopathic Medical Group, we take a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to investigating and managing autoimmune and rheumatic conditions. We look beyond individual symptoms to understand the broader clinical picture, identify relevant inflammatory or autoimmune processes, and develop an individualized plan that supports symptom management, disease control, and long-term health.

How We Approach Care

Diagnosis & Investigation

We begin with a thorough evaluation of your medical history, symptoms, previous diagnoses, and relevant testing. When indicated, we use targeted laboratory testing and further investigation to assess potential autoimmune and inflammatory processes, clarify diagnostic questions, and help guide appropriate next steps. We recognize that no single test tells the whole story, and we interpret findings in the context of your symptoms, examination, and overall health.

Conventional Treatment & Disease Management

Managing autoimmune disease may involve medications, ongoing monitoring, and coordination among multiple healthcare providers. We help patients navigate diagnoses, understand their treatment options, and develop appropriate management plans. When within our scope of practice and clinically appropriate, we can prescribe and monitor conventional medications and collaborate with other members of your healthcare team to support coordinated care.

Naturopathic & Whole-Person Care

Autoimmune disease management with our providers at Radiance Naturopathic, extends beyond treating inflammation alone. We consider how factors such as gastrointestinal health, nutrient status, hormonal changes, chronic infections when clinically relevant, environmental toxin exposure, sleep, stress, and lifestyle may influence symptoms and overall well-being. Based on your individual needs and the evidence available, we develop personalized strategies to address relevant contributing factors, support your body’s normal physiological functions, and complement your broader treatment plan.

Our goal is to help you better understand your condition, feel supported in navigating its challenges, and access thoughtful, individualized care that evolves with you over time.
